Former Dallas Cowboy safety Bill Bates is coaching at Ponte Vedra Beach (Fla.) Nease, but he had his impact after 15 years with the Cowboys. Bates' Knoxville high school, Farragut, is all but a carbon copy of the Cowboys' look.
There could be a Bates playing again in Texas. Bill has two sons who are senior defensive backs at Nease. Graham (6-0, 185) has scholarship offers from UTEP, Air Force and Northwestern. Hunter (5-10, 170) is receiving interest from several schools.
Bates, a defensive back at Tennessee from 1979-82, would like the pair to play together and don't rule out them volunteering for the Vols as walkons.
