TxDOT Commissioner Rick Williamson is either mellowing with age or decided that discretion was the better part of valor.  Williamson today voted with the majority of TxDOT Commissioners to let the North Texas Tollway Authority build the Texas 121 toll road in Denton and Collin counties - rejecting a bid from the private Spanish firm Cintra.

Now that the Commissioners have approved the NTTA contrqct the tollway authority will start negotiating with the Metroplex Regional Transportation Council to finalize a contrarct.  The process could take up to two months.

The vote was 4-1 Thursday with Ted Houghton of El Paso the lone dessenter.
