It would be difficult for Mark Cuban, Mike Modano and all the good people of the Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game to lure you to Saturday evening’s featured event based solely on the promise of watching some inept baseball.
For local fans, there is no shortage of that already.
But inept baseball played by the Cowboys’ Roy Williams and Demarcus Ware, by the Mavs’ Jerry Stackhouse and Devin Harris, by Cuban and Modano and a couple dozen other stars from the entertainment and sports worlds?
Oh, and it’s all for charity?
Priceless.
Actually, tickets for the sixth annual Reebok Heroes Celebrity Baseball Game can be had for just five bucks, and that gets you into Frisco’s Dr Pepper Ballpark for the celebrity Home Run Derby at 5 p.m. and the game itself, which will feature the managerial skills of real baseball legends Rollie Fingers and Wade Boggs. Word is, Modano’s sweetie, Willa Ford, will sing the national anthem. And the whole thing – which has raised $1.2 million for charity so far -- benefits The Heroes Foundation and The Mike Modano Foundation. For tickets ($5 to $15), call Ticketmaster (214 373-8000) or visit the Dr Pepper Ballpark Box Office after 1 p.m. We're expecting unusually bad baseball. ... for an especially good cause
