Ringo, Gilmer's Traylor out of Coppell process PDF Print E-mail
by Dave McNabb    Thu, May 24, 2007, 11:37 AM

Plano East coach Johnny Ringo, a former Coppell coach, has withdrawn from consideration at Coppell. Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor also told Coppell officials he wasn't interested in moving.

Coppell athletic director John Crawford called Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor to see if he were interested in replacing Mike Fuller. Traylor and Coppell superintendent Dr. Jeff Turner once worked together in Jacksonville.

"I was contacted by Coach Crawford,' Traylor said. "I was very flattered because of the respect I have for Coach Crawford and Dr. Turner. I know the Coppell job is a great job but I just feel like Gilmer has been very committed to our program so therefore we are very committed to them."

Coppell is talking to several other highly respected coaches. If it doesn't work out for either, Crawford may take over on a 1-year basis.
