The 2011 Super Bowl awarded to JerryWorld in Arlington on Tuesday will be the crown jewel event for North Texas to experience, but it'll be the cornerstone of future coming attractions for JerryWorld.
Look for college games _ possibly a BCS championship game, Army vs. Navy and many others _ nationally televised high school games and international soccer games to start lining up on the docket.
JerryWorld opens for the 2009 season. The Super Bowl will be the Feb. 6, 2011 game for the 2010 season.
SMU-TCU among Super Bowl benefactors
SMU and TCU, with new facilities and improvements on the line, are among many in North Texas cheering the NFL's decision to have the Super Bowl at Arlington's JerryWorld in 2011.
Because NFL requirements for practice facilities for the two participants, SMU has been in discussion with the Cowboys about getting an indoor practice site. The site could be at SMU's current soccer stadium and the soccer stadium would be moved elsewhere.
At TCU, the same practice facility requirements for two teams, could mean the expansion, update and new grass to TCU's already growing practice facilities.
