Lennox Lewis, three-time world heavyweight champion, will be this year’s celebrity boxing legend at The Real Estate Council’s 19th annual FightNight on Thursday, May 3 at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.  Funds raised during this exciting evening of boxing and entertainment, which The Real Estate Council estimates will be more than  $1.5 million, will help revitalize Dallas neighborhoods.  The event is nearly sold out, and organizers expect more than 2,000 people to attend.

David Pettle of Lincoln Property Company chairs this year’s event.  During the Champions of FightNight 2007 Sponsor Party on April 12 at The Beck Group, Pettle announced the theme, while guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and cocktails—including the event’s signature “flirtini” martini drink, shaken, not stirred.  The sponsor party was generously underwritten by Lincoln Property Company.

FightNight: 007 will pair the glamour and spectacle of boxing’s rich past with the intrigue of the world’s best loved secret agent. The event will incorporate the Bond theme in the invitations, décor, music, auction packages and, of course, the martinis.  Pettle said, “In addition to the fun and festive evening we’re looking forward to raising critical dollars for neighborhood redevelopment. On May 3, FightNight’s contribution to our community will exceed $15 million.”

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a cocktail reception.  At 8:30 p.m., the seated dinner begins, with boxing matches following at 9:30 p.m. and raffle drawings throughout the night.  Live music will conclude the evening at 11 p.m.

“Along with a great theme, we have a great celebrity boxer—Lennox Lewis—who will make the event a must-attend for the commercial real estate community,” said Pettle.  “We still have a few tables available, so reserve yours before the event is completely sold out.”

Lennox Lewis retired as the reigning heavyweight champion of the world in 2004 with a career record of 41-2-1, with 32 KOs (knock outs).  He is the new expert commentator for the HBO BOXING AFTER DARK series—his first foray into announcing.  Highlights of his career include defeating top boxers Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Vitali Klitschko and Hasim Rahman.  Rahman, who attended FightNight in 2006, first knocked out Lewis in 2001, before Lewis came back with a KO.  Before turning pro, Lewis won a gold medal for Canada at the 1988 Seoul Olympics by defeating Riddick Bowe.  Born in England, Lennox remains active in the boxing community.  He and his family live in Miami, Florida.

Major sponsors include World Champions ($50,000): Chicago Title Insurance Company and Behringer Harvard; Super Heavyweight Champions ($30,000): Guaranty Bank and Republic Title; Title Fight Champions ($20,000): American Airlines and Lincoln Property Company.  Platinum ($11,000-$20,000):  Archon Group, Banc of America Securities, Capmark Finance, Comerica Bank, Gatehouse Capital/Hicks Holdings, Goldman Sachs & Co., Harwood International, Holliday Fenoglio Fowler, L.P., LaSalle Bank, NorthMarq Capital, Texans Commercial Capital, U.S. Risk, Wachovia, Washington Mutual, Wells Fargo and Zom Texas, Inc.

In addition to Pettle, other Real Estate Council committee members include Vice Chairman Steve Modory of Champion Partners; Boxing Chairman Steve Crosson of Crosson Dannis, Inc.; Underwriting Chairman Chris Harris of Criterion Development Partners; Table Sales Chairman Ben Doherty of Crow Holdings; Raffle Prize Co-Chairmen Denise Fansler of UDR and Mary Miano of PageSoutherlandPage; Publicity Chairman Angela Huston of Munsch Hardt Kopf & Harr; Finance Chairman Will Suttle of Deloitte & Touche; Program Chairman Jason Signor of The Cirrus Group; TV Broadcast Chairman Brian Jensen of Cushman & Wakefield; Gift Bag Chairman Ryan Nelson of Champion Partners; and Volunteer Chairman Carlton Johnson of ING Clarion.

As one of Dallas’ largest charity events, FightNight benefits The Real Estate Council Foundation, a nonprofit organization founded by The Real Estate Council, dedicated to community development.  Since 1989, FightNight has raised more than $15 million for the foundation.  For more information on sponsorship, visit or call Monica Shortino at 214-692-3600.
