June 11, 2006 at Capital One Championship Field in Las Colinas.
Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship, founded in 1981, has become the largest non-profit therapeutic riding center in the state. They serve children and adults with all types of physical, mental and emotional disabilities and learning differences. The rhythmic movement of the horse naturally moves the body in a manner similar to the human gait, improving posture, balance and muscle control. Every rider gains self-confidence and takes that back into his or her world. Equest's certified therapeutic riding instructors and the special therapy horses are the catalyst to miracles in handicapped lives. Equest's programs promote children and adults reaching beyond the confines of their disabilities because of the intervention of this special therapy team. The theme for this charity event is “Horsepower Under Saddle and Under the Hood.” Bring your family and friends and enjoy watching an exciting polo match featuring world -class players while dining “al fresco” along the sidelines. Hot food off the grill and beverages will be available for purchase at the event OR b ring your own sideline picnic. Prizes will be awarded for the best picnic baskets! Wander among the vintage Ford cars on display and reminisce of days gone by! There will be a riding demonstration by Equest riders and a champagne divot stomp at half-time. The day’s activities kick-off at 5 pm. Admission to this charity event is $50 for grandstand seats, $30 for lawn seating, and children under 12 are free. This year’s event chairman is Linda Blake.
