South Oak cliff football coach J.B. Wallace is retiring said DISD assistant superintendent in charge of athletics Troy Mathieu said. Wallace, 54, a one-time Lake Highlands assistant, had eight playoff berths in 11 years at SOC. There are seven openings in the DISD but Thomas Jefferson, Adamson and Conrad could be filled within the week. Hillcrest, SOC, Roosevelt and North Dallas are open as well.  Among the candidates is Carrollton Ranchview coach Garry Monty to open Conrad, which will open in two years as a Class 3A or 4A and eventually be 4A. A highly successful coach at Hillcrest for 6 years, Monty left to open Ranchview in 1998.
