Sen. Florence ShapiroSen. Florence Shapiro (R-Plano) received an outstanding service award from the Independent Colleges and Universities of Texas, the trade association for private schools in Texas. As a member of the Senate Finance Committee, Shapiro worked to restore reductions in the Tuition Equalization Grant program, which provides financial assistance to Texas residents at private Texas colleges and universities. "I am honored to be recognized by this outstanding group of educators," Shapiro said. "My goal for every Texas child is to have boundless opportunities for a seamless Pre-K through 16 education experience."
