Dallas may soon have a public code of conduct for its libraries and recreation centers. At a meeting of the Quality of Life Committee on Monday, Library Director Laurie Evans presented a proposal for a code of conduct that would prohibit behavior “disruptive of others”. Although details of the proposed code were not revealed, it will consist of 3 categories: violations of the Texas Penal Code, violations of City of Dallas codes, and behavior that, while legal, is nonetheless “disruptive”.
The committee was told that there have been complaints about gangs. Committee member James Fantroy pointed out that homeless individuals are said to be responsible for some odor problems at the main branch of the Dallas Public library.
