It is time to rock the Rock again and this time it is bigger than ever. This Sunday December 11^th beginning at 8 am at American Airlines Center a record number of runners for the Dallas White Rock Marathon, more than 10,000, will wait for the starting gun. This is well up from last year’s 9400. An estimated 100,000 spectators will line the route. And this year’s prize money will top $100,000.

The “I Rock” awards banquet and party will begin two and one half hours later at American Airlines Center . Five hours later at 3:30 pm the finish line will officially close. Although an icy blast is currently enveloping the city it should be long gone by Sunday with temps near 50 at race time

The marathon is expanding the Dallas White Rock Marathon FITNESS EXPO into a two-day event. The expo showcases the latest in fitness technology, exercise equipment, health and beauty products will be located in the Marsalis Exhibit Hall at Hyatt Regency Dallas, 300 Reunion Blvd., Friday, Dec. 9, 2-7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.

The White Rock Marathon is presented by the Dallas Police Association and benefits the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. The event began in 1971 with less than 100 runners. For information on the full schedule of events visit http://www.runtherock.com/index.html
