The Texas Legend is an award bestowed on an individual, company or organization in Texas whose vision, leadership and influence have had an enduring effect on the technology industry.
Several insurance groups and the conservative group Americans for Prosperity held a news conference today to celebrate the first anniversary of file and use insurance regulation in Texas. Under file and use, carriers can use a rate after it is filed with the Department of Insurance unless the department objects. In addition to AFP, the Texas Coalition for Affordable Insurance Solutions, the Southwestern Insurance Information Institute, and the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas were represented. The groups at the press conference list as members most of the major property and casulty writers in Texas.
"Shopping is the consumer's most powerful tool to make the newly competitive market work for them," said Beaman Floyd, executive director of the Texas Coalition for Affordable Insurance Solutions. "Competition is the best regulator of the insurance marketplace, because it attracts new companies, encourages competitive pricing, and expands customers' choices for products and services.
"Texas consumers deserve choices," added AFP Texas state director Peggy Venable. "Thanks to legislation that included new regulation for the insurance marketplace, more competition now exists in Texas. Consumers who are looking for a better value or want to make a change can call a growing list of competitors to get the customer service, price, and level of coverage they want.
