As you look forward over the next few years, where do you see the greatest opportunities for telecom investing?
You spend a lot of time in Asia, China and Taiwan. Do you see China transforming itself from a world class manufacturing center to an innovation center?
Who are some of the leading companies in China that you see that are leading companies today in the telecom area?
What are some of the challenges and success factors specific to running a China based company; that if you own a company that is located in China or own a company that owes operations in China what are some of the challenges there?
You’re an American venture capitalist you work in the United States market and you’ve worked with a lot of venture capital firms in Asia and elsewhere. What are the differences in the way that we operate in this country and the way you find that people in Singapore or wherever how venture capitalist there, what they look for and how they operate?
Typically a venture capital organization in Singapore or wherever, if they are going to invest in the US do they partner with you or another American venture capital group or do they actually operate on their on here.
What do you think the key technology breakthroughs that the telecom industry needs to go to the next level?
You made a lot of investments before 2000. Most of them turned out very, very well. Then we went through a depression in the telecom industry. How do you look at deals today differently, if you do, then you looked at it six, seven years ago?
What type of returns do want to see from an investment today versus what you looked for? Is it the same or do you have a different yardstick?
The IPO market is not a very good one these days. When you make an investment what kind of exit strategy do you look at in a company? Do you say who is going to buy this five year down the road or what are you looking for?
You’ve owned a number of companies located in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. My perception of this area, because I know a lot about it, is that is really kind of a technology powerhouse. But I don’t that is the world’s perception. What do you think the strengths of this area are and what could this area do to promote itself better as a technology center?
